Day 11: Help a Furry Friend

Last week, our family suffered the loss of a loved one.  Our greyhound Mustang lost his battle to cancer and passed away Thursday morning.  His playful antics, awkward sleeping positions, and his unconditional love filled our hearts with joy each and every day.  Today, we continue to mourn his death.  His absence in our home leaves a huge void in our life.  In time, we will heal. It hurts to lose your friend, your buddy, your pet.  The Day 11 task was to help a furry friend.  Tonight, we donated dog food and cat food to the Fort Wayne Pet Food Pantry.  Their mission is to keep pets at home with their families by providing free pet food to those who cannot afford to feed their pets. We want all pet owners to be able to care for, and feed, their pets.  Losing a pet, by death or by financial hardship, is not easy and we wanted to do our part to help.  Our donation was made in honor of our buddy Mustang.  He will always be missed, but never forgotten.

Tomorrow is Day 12 of the 25 Days of Giving.  We are calling it Phone Call.  We will be picking up the phone and reaching out to those who we have lost contact with over the last year.  We encourage you to do the same.  Call a high school friend you haven’t talked to in years.  Surprise a relative with a call and let them know that you are thinking about them.  In a world filled with emails and text messages it will be nice to reconnect with others via our voices.
