Impact 52

Days 14 and 15

Due to a snow storm on Saturday, we postponed our Day 14 activity to today.  Day 14 was called Hero Appreciation and we delivered goodie baskets of miscellaneous snacks, cookies, and candy to fire stations and police stations around the city.  It was our way of saying thank you to the brave men and women who protect and serve our city.  It was obvious that those who received the baskets were very appreciative of the gesture.  We were greeted with big smiles at each location.

The Day 15 task was to remember seniors in our community.  We made homemade Christmas cards and delivered them to the residents of Miller’s Merry Manor nursing home.  In addition to the cards, we gave the staff some of Erica’s delicious cookies.  We hope that the cards will bring a smile to the faces of those who may be alone this holiday season.

Tomorrow is Day 16 and it was originally scheduled to be food donation day.  We swapped days 9 and 16 so we will be putting our backpacks on tomorrow night and heading into the cold night to help the homeless of our city.  We have put together goodie bags with snacks and hand-warmers that we will give to those who call the streets home. We are really looking forward to it.
