Day 13: Fill The Red Kettle

It is Christmas time.  Santa ho-ho-hos from his throne at the mall.  Carolers sing fa-la-la-la-la while they deck the halls.  Chestnuts crackle on an open fire.  Children sing songs of a reindeer with a famous shiny nose.  These are the sounds of the season. All are synonymous with the Christmas spirit.  There is another sound that should be mentioned.  It is the sound of a bell ringing on the doorstep of your favorite retail location.  A bell that raises funds for the Salvation Army. Today while out-and-about running errands and shopping, we focused on filling the red kettle.  We donated change at a few different locations and thanked the jolly bell ringers in the process.  A simple task that could and can be completed by anyone.

Tomorrow will be a great day.  It is Day 14 and it Hero Appreciation Day.  It will be a day where we honor the men and women of the military, the police department, and the fire department.  We will be dropping of goodie baskets that we have put together as a gesture of our gratitude.  We want these heroes to know how much we appreciate them and their willingness to put their lives on the line for us.  We hope that you will pause and honor the heroes in your community as well.
