Snow was falling, the wind was blowing, and roads were slippery. We trudged along the sidewalks of downtown Fort Wayne with the group from Saints on the Streets. Our backpacks were filled with goodie bags that we had prepared for the homeless of our city. It was Day 16 of our 25 Days of Giving and we were on the streets to help the homeless. We visited many locations in the downtown area where individuals were are homeless call home. We made stops at a shelter, along the sidewalk, and under bridges. As with previous occasions, our gifts were greeted with smiles and many words of thanks. The level of appreciation never ceases to amaze me as we work with this population of people. They are always thankful, and very grateful, for the generosity of those that will not let them be forgotten. I will not get on my soapbox about the stereotypes and judgements we pass, you’ve all heard it many times before. I will just say that it was nice to help out some men and women who needed a helping hand.

Tomorrow is Day 17 and we are calling it a Day of Change. We will be donating change at local McDonald’s locations to support the Ronald McDonald House. RMH Charities is an organization we love to support and all of change donated stays local to your area. Stop in your local McDonald’s, order a sweet tea and Big Mac, and donate your change. If you aren’t near a McDonald’s, donate some change to a worthy cause in your neighborhood.
Bless you all
Thank you!
