Two weeks ago we launched a Kickstarter fundraising campaign for our new children’s book LINNIE MAE’S NEW FRIENDS. Our goal was to raise $5000 to help cover the expenses involved in printing and distributing hard copies of the book. As of this post, we have reached the $3500 dollar mark and 70% funded. We feel very blessed to have the support of our family, our friends, and our community. We are very excited about printing this book and getting it in the hands of children.
LINNIE MAE”S NEW FRIENDS is a story of young girl who has society’s typical stereotypes of the homeless. They are “losers”, “bums”, and “unwilling to help themselves”. Through a volunteer experience with her parents, Linnie Mae meets some interesting people and hears some intriguing stories. In the end, she connects with those living on the streets and learns that ALL people are PEOPLE . She realizes it is unfair for her to pass judgement without knowing a person’s story. We believe that all children, and adults, need to learn and understand this lesson. In addition to the book, we have worked with educators to create educational materials that teachers and parents can use to open dialogue about homelessness, helping others, and not passing judgement. LINNIE MAE”S NEW FRIENDS is a kid’s picture book about investing time in others, offering a helping hand, and personal self-discovery.
We are happy to be 70% funded to this point. We, however, know that there is still work to be done. Kickstarter is an all or none platform and we need your help. If we fall short of our $5000 goal, we do not get any of the monies pledged. We only have 12 days to raise the rest of our goal. We are asking for your support.
