It is hard to believe that the first week of our 25 Days of Giving has come to an end. It has been a great week of giving, helping others, learning lessons, and self-fulfillment. It has also been nice to see that people from all over the country have accepted the challenge to make this a special season of giving. Today was Day 7 and we donated non-perishable food items to the Associated Churches Food Network. This network provides food for those in need once a month at no charge through 28 different food pantries. The food provided is in demand as our communities are filled with individuals, and families, in search of the next meal. Hunger does not discriminate. People of all races, sexes, ages, and social status find themselves in need during the difficult times of our economy. We hope that the 28 pounds of food we donated today provides nourishment for someone in need.
The weekend is here and we are excited about the next two days. Tomorrow, Saturday, is Appreciate our Servicemen. We are going to take time out of our day to say thank you to those individuals who serve our community and our country. We have prepared thank you packages that we will deliver to brave individuals in uniform. We know that it isn’t much, but it is a way for us to show our appreciation. We hope that you too will take a minute and thank a police officer, fireman, or military solider. We owe it to them.
